Festival of Light 2025: 25 spectacular light installations coming to Zagreb

The Zagreb Festival of Light will take place from 19 to 23 March 2025, illuminating the city with innovative light installations, animations and projections. Over the course of five days, 25 attractions will be set up in 22 locations, including streets, squares and parks, creating a unique experience for visitors.

This year, the festival marks two significant anniversaries: the 1100th anniversary of the Croatian Kingdom and the 100th anniversary of the Esplanade Zagreb Hotel, a symbol of elegance and hospitality.

More than half of the installations, 13 of them, come from eight countries, including the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Slovakia and the United Kingdom, confirming the international reputation of the festival.

The festival will collaborate with WWF Adria to draw attention to nature protection and environmental responsibility. On Saturday, March 22, at 8:30 PM, the global event “Earth Hour” will be marked by turning off the lights on Marulić Square for 10 minutes.

The cornflower, a plant known for its flowering during winter and early spring, has been chosen as the symbol of the festival, which further emphasizes the arrival of spring.

The opening program, in collaboration with German and Croatian artists and with 3D mapping, is scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, at 7:00 PM in front of the Esplanade Zagreb Hotel, which is included as a festival location for the first time this year.

Festival attractions will be available to visitors every day from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and admission to all programs is free.

The Zagreb City Tourist Board is conducting promotional campaigns in the markets of Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, Italy, Hungary, the Netherlands, Germany, the USA, Slovenia, Serbia and the United Kingdom in order to attract as many visitors as possible.

The Festival of Lights Zagreb has been included in the international organization Festival of Lights International since its first edition in 2017, which placed it alongside world cities such as Berlin and New York.

Detailed information on individual programs, as well as a map of locations, is available in the Visitor Centers and on the festival’s official website.
